30/10/2007 : Wolves at the door.

2 nights in the home of rock is never a bad thing, but after the soaring glory of the second night at Barrowlands Wolves is going to have to have a lot to say for itself. We arrive after a fairly strenuous drive over the border, managing not to throw insults at Molineux as we pass it on the way in.

I love the Civic, it's one of the best rooms in the country and close to the hearts of any British touring band. And there are jacuzzi baths in all the dressing rooms. Awesome.

The first show is packed to the rafters with excited children and their obligatory glow sticks. Tonight they're being entertained by Rory Shikari's DJ'ing brother between bands. It's a nice touch.

The gig rules. It sounds great in there and the my-first-gig crowd quickly learns how to act when a rock band starts playing. It's hands in the air all the way. After Shikari, we head back to our slightly odd hotel and hang out drinking wine with Charlotte from the Subways who'd come up for the show.

The next day I buy two footballs and a remote control helicopter.

The show is better for us the second night. Less people there, but we play well and people seem to like it. Some pathetic schoolboy gets me in the face with a 2 pence piece. I've never understood the need to throw things at a band or the weakness required to actually do it. If we were stood in a room together, face to face, would you do it then? No? Didn't think so.

Apart from that we have a great time. Thanks Wolverhampton.
